Let's Dance!
OUR VISION: To allow people of all ages the opportunity to see how fun American folk dances and the associated traditional music can be.
In today’s fast paced world of smart phones, video games, and TV, we seem to have few opportunities to enjoy the world of music and dance in a setting that can encompass friends and family of all ages like our ancestors did. The Capital City Historical Dancers and Musicians holds special dances with a mixture of live and recorded music to provide the setting for experiencing the joy of dances and songs that have been passed down for generations of Americans. By enabling the adults of our community and their children to see just how fun this can be, we offer a means for preserving this tradition for future generations.
Would you like to learn to dance like your favorite characters from Little Women, Victoria, Poldark, Firefly,
Pride and Prejudice, or Emma?
Then join us for some family fun as we learn these festive, interactive dances that have been passed down for generations. Both the slightly more formal dances from the ballrooms of Poldark, Pride and Prejudice, and Victoria as well as the more laid back dances at the village celebrations. All taught in a relaxed, easy manner. No dance experience necessary and children are not only welcomed, but encouraged to attend. If you can walk, you can do these dances.
We will offer Family Dances, which are open to all ages, and will have an emphasis on learning, fun, and fellowship. Adults of any age are encouraged to join in on the Family Dances.
Pass the love of dance and movement on to future generations by joining us for a fun filled family night!
We look forward to dancing with you!
