Harvest Festival Dance Get ready to kick up your heels and have some fun! Ever wanted to find out what the Virginia Reel is? Well, this is your chance! We will be learning to do some Square dances, Contra dances, Circle dances, as well lots of other fun mixers and party dances. NO dance experience is necessary. If you can walk, you can do these dances. This evening is all about the fun! So invite your friends, bring a favorite sweet or savory snack to share with the group, and come have some good old fashioned fun. The majority of the dances will be geared toward the teen and tween crowd, but there will be a few sprinkled in that even the youngest or oldest dancer can enjoy. Step back in time to the Antebellum period when life was slower. A time when fine gentlemen and lovely ladies would gather for an evening of light refreshments and social dance to while away a warm summer evening. Join us on Friday nights for some fun as we learn enjoyable, lively dances that have been passed down for generations. All taught in a laid back, easy manner. No dance experience necessary and your children and teens are not only welcomed, but encouraged to attend. We will offer both Family Dances, which are open to all ages, and Adult/Teen Dances, which are for those who are 13 and above and will have an emphasis on learning the dances that will be on the roster for our upcoming Simple Summer Ball. We will be teaching and practicing the dances for this ball. Saturday Nov 23 from 10-12 Saturday Dec 7 from 3-5 Sunday Dec 15 from 3-5 The more the merrier and this is a great time for anyone not familiar with these dances to come try them out. If you have no experience with English Country Dancing then these sessions are invaluable. You will learn all you need to know to be able to comfortably dance many if not all of the dances. Would you like to learn to dance like your favorite characters from Victoria, Poldark, Firefly, Pride and Prejudice, or Emma? Then join us on Friday nights for some fun as we learn these enjoyable, interactive dances that have been passed down for generations. Both the slightly more formal dances from the ballrooms of Poldark, Pride and Prejudice and Victoria as well as the more laid back dances at the village celebrations. All taught in a relaxed, easy manner. No dance experience necessary. The initial half hour will have a heavier emphasis on teaching, but we encourage all dancers to participate. The final half hour will have a heavier emphasis on English Country dances. The middle hour will be a wonderful fun mix of lively and not so lively dances for all.
